Any person between 18 to 50 years (life cover up to age 55)


What are the benefits?
Rs. 2 lakh is payable on a subscriber’s death due to any cause. The premium payable is Rs.436/- per annum per subscriber.

Who is eligible?
Any person between 18 to 70 years (Indian Resident or NRI)


What are the benefits?
Risk coverage under the scheme is Rs.2 lakh for accidental death and full disability; and Rs.1 lakh for partial disability. The premium payable is Rs.20/- per annum per subscriber.

Whom do I contact?
Life insurance companies operating in India, who are licensed by IRDAI to carry on life insurance business in India. The indicative list includes:

What are the other important details?

  • Step 1 – Policy holder/nominee should reach out to the bank or the insurance company from where the policy was purchased to file a claim.
  • Step 2 – Obtain claim form and fill it. It will include details such as name, address, contact information, details of the hospital, etc. The claim forms can be downloaded from the Jan Suraksha website for free. The form is available in multiple languages.
  • Step 3 – Submit the filled form with the relevant supporting documentation such as disability certificate or death certificate in case the claim is raised by the nominee.
  • Step 4 – The insurance company will confirm the details.
  • Step 5 – If the documents turn out to be proper, the claim amount will be transferred to the specified bank account and the claim will be settled.

The policy will terminate upon the following events and no benefit will become payable:

  1. Closure of account with the Bank or insufficiency of balance to keep the insurance in force.
  2. A person can join with one Insurance company with one bank account only.
  3. In the case of PMJJBY, on attaining age 55 years (age near birthday) subject to annual renewal up to that date (entry, however, will not be possible beyond the age of 50 years).
